Quantum Markov Semigroups: Structure and Asymptotics

We study the structure of a quantum Markov semigroup (Tt)t≥0 on a von Neumann algebra A starting from its decomposition by means of the transient and recurrent projections. The existence of invariant states and convergence to invariant state is also discussed. Applications to quantum Markov semigroups with Lindblad type infinitesimal generator are analysed.

Generators of Detailed Balance Quantum Markov Semigroups

For a quantum Markov semigroup T on the algebra B(h) with a faithful invariant state ρ, we can define an adjoint T̃ with respect to the scalar product determined by ρ. In this paper, we solve the open problems of characterising adjoints T̃ that are also a quantum Markov semigroup and satisfy the detailed balance condition in terms of the operators H,Lk in the Gorini Kossakowski Sudarshan Lindblad...

Generic Quantum Markov Semigroups: the Fock Case

Abstract. We introduce the class of generic quantum Markov semigroups. Within this class we study the class corresponding to the Fock case which is further split into four sub-classes each of which contains both bounded and unbounded generators, depending on some global characteristics of the intensities of jumps. For the first two of these classes we find an explicit solution which reduces the...

Semigroups , Rings , and Markov

We analyze random walks on a class of semigroups called \left-regular bands". These walks include the hyperplane chamber walks of Bidi-gare, Hanlon, and Rockmore. Using methods of ring theory, we show that the transition matrices are diagonalizable and we calculate the eigenvalues and multiplicities. The methods lead to explicit formulas for the projections onto the eigenspaces. As examples of ...
